THEATRE SCHOOL STUDENT REVIEWS ALICE IN WONDERLAND

We invited one of our Theatre School students Sydney to review Bad Hats Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland! Here’s what she had to say about the time she spent falling down the rabbit hole:

MTYP’s production of Bad Hats theatre’s Alice in Wonderland created a wonderful twist to the timeless classic, Alice in Wonderland. While keeping the same odd and dream-like themes of the original story, this production shares an important and inspiring lesson to viewers of all ages. The message is that it is okay to not know who you want to be or what you want to do in life yet. As a highschool student about to enter grade twelve, I have to begin to seriously think about what I want to do with my life. Much like Alice in this performance, I too am not fully sure of what I want to do in the future.

Relating to Alice gave me comfort that it is okay to not be sure about my future yet. Personally, being a theatre student at MTYP and considering the dramatic arts to be a possible future career path for myself, I cannot express enough how important it is to view live theatre whenever the chance is given as a theatre student. Experiencing live theatre as a theatre student is not only inspirational, but also gives a view into what a theatre student, especially one at MTYP, can look forward to for their own future. With the twist of a school theme, MTYP’s production of Bad Hats Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland also uses live music and instrument playing to move the story along. The use of music in this production both adds to the whimsicality of the story, and adds texture to the overall performance. Getting the opportunity to view this performance has been such a magical experience and I recommend that anybody who is able to see this nostalgic show does so!
