After School Leaders
MTYP is proud to have been chosen by the Province of Manitoba to deliver the After School Leaders (ASL) Program. A funded initiative from Healthy Child Manitoba, ASL is offered free to participants and is open to all Manitoba high school students age 14 and up. ASL allows students the opportunity to explore career options and identify an area that taps their potential and passion within the content areas of arts, science, technology, sports, and communication. At MTYP, in addition to the theatrical education opportunities, students are also provided with bus tickets to facilitate attending classes at our facility, and each class opens with a meal provided to keep them energized through this valuable after school program.
What is the time commitment for youth?
ASL offers two 10-14 week sessions during the school year; one from October to January, and the other from March to June. ASL sites run two days a week for 3-4 hours after school. Each program has a slightly different schedule, but all programs run between Monday-Friday and are finished by 8pm at the latest. Stay tuned for more information on MTYP’s After School Leaders class in October 2023!
