WELCOME BACK NATALIE!
Natalie Viebrock has a love affair with MTYP!
From being a theatre school student, to becoming a teaching assistant for theatre school classes to starring in MTCO’s Peter and the Starcatcher, Natalie has literally done it all at MTYP. Now, for her next act, she is back from her third year at Queen’s University as our Associate Camp Director for Summer Camps.
We caught up with her to find out why she just can’t stay away.
MTYP is so excited to welcome you back as our Associate Camp Director. What was your experience like as a student and TA at MTYP?
I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at MTYP! It is seriously the best team of staff, and everyone is always so welcoming and compassionate. Attending classes since age 8, I’ve learned so much as a student and have been able to apply my knowledge to my work as a TA, Teacher, Theatre School Administrator, and now, Associate Camp Director.
What have you been up to since you left us? What degree are you going for?
I’ve been attending Queen’s University’s Concurrent Education program, in the Primary-Junior stream, with an English major and Drama minor. I just finished my third year in the program and am looking forward to the next two! This May, I completed a practicum in the Toronto District School Board in a Kindergarten class, which was an amazing learning experience.
Why are you excited to work with Theatre School Director, Spenser Payne? What makes Summer Camps at MTYP special?
I’m beyond excited to work with Spenser as I think we have very similar visions and expectations for Summer Camp! We both prioritize efficiency and flexibility and are huge proponents of making camp as fun as it can be. Summer camps at MTYP are so special because campers get to dive into the worlds of theatre, film, puppetry, or drag! It is the most creative and supportive environment , all under the guidance of experienced professionals, who foster inclusivity and lasting friendships.
Tell us what MTYP means to you?
MTYP has meant a lot to me because it’s where I was able to really explore my love for theatre and education. Without MTYP, I’m not sure if I’d be pursuing an education degree! It’s a place where I’ve always been able to be myself, make incredible friends, and learn from amazing mentors who inspire me daily. I’m so excited to be the Associate Camp Director this summer, and give back to the Theatre School and Summer Camp programs where I spent so many years!
